A roaming profile can also be created to be
accessed via a network. An administrator has full rights
and can assign mandatory profiles which general users cannot
access.
When a user logs on to a windows XP or a
Windows 2000 computer, the system will check if that user has
what is called a local windows user profile from the documents and
settings folder.
The file that is created for a windows user
profile is
called NTUSER.DAT. This folder also contains other things such
as desktop items.
Some of the other things a user can save
and change are as follows.

Their view of windows explorer
·
The taskbar
·
Control panel options
·
Printer settings
If you want to create a window user profile
in windows XP all you have to do is go to the control panel
choose user accounts and setup a user account.
Windows 2000 Accounts.
In windows 2000 you will need to use the
Local user’s groups utility. You can do this by going to
the control panel and selecting administrative tools or via use
of the MMC (Microsoft Management Console)
To use the MMC click start, then run and
type in MMC. Once the MMC opens then you select console
and then Add/Remove snap in.
Next click the add button and select local
users and groups and then click add. Choose target machine
a box then opens, then click finish.
Click close, then ok and you will see that
local users and groups has been added. Then, all you need
to do is save the console for the next time. You can now
add a new user to a windows 2000 computer.
It is a good idea to create a window user
profile for a Windows XP or 2000 computer.
This way everyone can have their own
setting and you can keep your files from others.
Windows XP Accounts. To setup a user
account in Windows XP follow the instructions below:
Click start and go to the control panel.
Click user accounts The user accounts dialog
box is divided into two sections. In the first section you
can. Change and account - You can
change an account that a user already has.
Create a new account - Here you can create administrator
and limited accounts. Change the way user
log on or off - You can enable or disable fast user
switching. If you are creating accounts for
the first time you will see icons for the owners and guest
account types that you can create. An
administrator has full access to the computer while a limited
user cannot perform things like installing software and seeing
others users documents. A window user profile is great
